Superkombat Fighting Championship®
The Superkombat Fighting Championship® was founded by Eduard Irimia on January, 2011 and since then it’s in a continuous growth worldwide. Superkombat is the largest martial arts promotion in Europe, featuring most of the top-ranked fighters in the sport and is ranked as the Europe’s premier kickboxing league. Based in Bucharest, Romania, Superkombat produces events worldwide and promotes a brand of professional kickboxing which is self-acknowledged as not just a sporting event, but also entertainment. Superkombat has held over 30 live events to date.
The first World Grand Prix™ event was held on May 18, 2011 in Ramnicu Valcea, Romania and it was showcased as an “Pilot Show”. Starting from 2013, Superkombat started to develop the World Tryouts™ series. The first tryout event was held on January 26, 2013 in Athens, Greece and it’s purpose was to identify the most effective martial art fighters of different fighting disciplines, including Boxing, Kickboxing, Wrestling, Muay Thai, Karate, Judo, and other styles. Besides the World Tryouts™ series, Superkombat continued it’s expansion and started to develop the New Heroes™ series. The first New Heroes™ event was held on February 23, 2013 in Opatija, Croatia and it’s purpose was to test the selected fighters from the World Tryouts™ series between them, in a real fight.
With a television deal and expansion with Eurosport into Europe, Asia, Africa and Oceania, Superkombat has gained in popularity, along with greater mainstream-media coverage. Viewers can access Superkombat programming on cable and satellite television in 4 continents, 90 countries and 20 different languages worldwide. Superkombat plans to continue expanding and has started running shows regularly in major cities of Europe, aimed to expand the European audience.
